The Museum Council, established by the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±ÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥â€™s Board of Trustees in 1981, is the longest continuously active arts membership group of its kind in Boston. The Museum Council brings together young arts enthusiasts and philanthropists between the ages of 21 and 49, from diverse backgrounds, in support of the Museum’s mission and programs. Museum Council membership dues provide vital annual operating funds that enable the preservation, interpretation, and presentation of the Museum’s world-class collection, and the maintenance of its building and grounds.
In acknowledgement of their support, Museum Council members are offered unique opportunities to further their understanding and enjoyment of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±ÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥. Museum Council Special Exhibition Fund
Members of the Museum Council supported the 2016 exhibition of Christian Marclay’s The Clock through contributions made to the Museum Council Special Exhibition Fund. The Clock, a 24-hour video made up of thousands of fragments from television and film history, is a contemporary masterpiece that inspired the #mfaNOW Overnights in the Linde Wing for Contemporary Art in the fall of 2016.
Museum Council Steering Committee
The Museum Council Steering Committee is the volunteer leadership group of the Museum Council and service determined is by appointment and application. Steering Committee members serve as ambassadors for the Museum Council and help to carry out the goals and related activities of the Museum Council as established by the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±ÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥.
