Museum Council Patron-level members are able to take advantage of exclusive tours led by the Museum’s expert curators. These trips offer global perspectives on art, history, and culture. Patrick McKee recalls how a trip to Marfa, Texas, this past April turned out to be the highlight of his year: 

"This was absolutely the right way to do an art trip. We had unbelievable access: on our first morning, we saw Donald Judd’s 100 works in milled aluminum, set in a massive old artillery shed in the scrubland of the high desert, at daybreak, well before the Chinati Foundation opens to the public. This symbolic start set the tone for a weekend of private tours, conversations with guides and curators, and great eating, arranged by Jo Ho and the rest of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±ÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥â€™s amazing staff. Jen Mergel, former Beal Senior Curator of Contemporary Art (and our fearless guide), arranged invitations into working studios and gave informative and fascinating context for the art, and the art scene.

"Although we had high expectations going in, we were blown away by Marfa, by the natural landscape, and by the way the spirit of Judd permeates his houses and studios and the whole aura of the town. We probably would never have gone—or had half the experience that we did—without the Museum Council. A huge perk was that we loved the group—we formed great bonds in the space of several days, and made friendships that continue until today."

A trip to Berlin is planned for the spring (April 19–22).
